We, the SMMI, began our educational mission at Baridua, located in Umling block of Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya, with the Savio Upper Primary School in the year 2006 with 210 students, to educate the underprivileged children of the locality alongside creating opportunity for all other children to have access to quality education. We charge only nominal fees but endavour to bring out the best in all the students. We have been rendering high quality of education from the very beginning so much so that today the enrollment number has shot up to 1020. Today the school has been upgraded to be Savio Higher Secondary School.

We do not leave out any child of our area. We vow to offer them the best of education. We provide concession to exceptionally intelligent students. This also motivates other students to strive to become excellent. From a family of more than four children, we offer special concession to one child who passes in all the subjects. Our privately managed English medium school is approved by and affiliated to the Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education (MBOSE).

Our school takes care to provide an-overall growth of the students. Besides the syllabus-oriented curricula, we have such facilities as Teach Next, Computer learning, Music Band training, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Throw-ball coaching, etc.

We use number of methods through competent and skilled persons to make this possible. The net result is that the students coming out will turn out to be mature and wholesome personalities. Excellence of intellectual achievement is well balanced along with forming and shaping them to be persons of sound character. The students coming out of the portals bloom later in life as doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, social workers, public servants, lawyers, etc. They definitely, with the value-based education received, in turn try to transform the society. We are grateful to God for having “witnessed” a number of them in their work area stamped by such values and convictions.

Savio aims specifically towards developing an integral and holistic person, especially girls, for our society through our quality education. Considering the fact that in education we share in the responsibility of the nation, we make special efforts to coordinate our educational activities with the aims and goals of the nation so that our students may grow up as responsible citizens fully involved in the task of nation-building.

We feel honoured to be part of Baridua village which is cradled in the lush green, peaceful and beautiful mountainous landscape.
